Supporting local producers! The efforts of Roman Matys’s team to attract large investments translate into support for small and medium local businesses. Passenger and freight transport, furniture, packaging, metal components for production processes, catering and workwear — local companies provide all of this to high-tech foreign-owned plants. Roman Matys aims to help them build that cooperation, so he regularly visits local plants and factories, talks to management and staff and gathers information on production capacity.
This time Roman Matys was impressed by the capacity of the Cardboard and Paper Company (PrJSC Kartonno-Paperova Kompaniia). It makes cardboard packaging (tubes and corner boards) and paper products, is the undisputed leader in Ukraine and is actively expanding sales in the EU, exporting to 23 European countries. In 2019 it invested in a new workshop with a state-of-the-art French line for cardboard tubes and a drying line. The average salary at the plant in 2019 was UAH 14,172.
Successful economic cooperation between local companies and foreign investors is one of the priorities of Roman Matys’s team, as it means economic stability for the region, new jobs and high wages.
